Czechoslovakia 1918 &1968

The Czech Centre Seoul, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Department of Czech and Slovakian Studies at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies launched an exhibition „Czechoslovakia 1918 & 1968“ commemorating three important anniversaries – 100 years from the establishment of Czechoslovakia, 50 years from the Prague Spring and the following Warsaw Pact invasion and 30 years from the establishment of the Department of Czech and Slovakian Studies at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Jongin. The exhibition was opened on December 4, 2018 during a school event „Česká kavárna(Czech coffee shop)“ with the participation of the Czech Centre’s representatives and the professors and students of the Department of Czech and Slovakian Studies. The exhibition is opened till December 14, 2018.

The part „1918“ focusing on the establishment of Czechoslovakia and the most significant politicians, who contributed to the establishment of a new state, offers a brief and approachable overview of the Czechoslovakian society, culture, trade and industry during the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938).

The second part „1968“ deals with the Prague Spring and the following Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. The goal of the exhibition is to provide a general overview by setting it in an international and historical context. Besides the development preceding and following the Prague Spring and the Warsaw Pact invasion, the exhibition engages in Czechoslovakian culture, art and society in 1960s.
