Czechoslovakia 1918 &1968

The Czech Centre Seoul has opened a digital exhibition “Czechoslovakia 1918 &1968”, which was made by Czech Centres and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia and the 50th anniversary of the Prague Spring and the following Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. The digital exhibition is a more extensive version of a panel exhibition “Czechoslovakia 1918 &1968”. Besides extensive texts visitors have an opportunity to learn more about the modern history of the Czech Republic through many photographs and short videos. The exhibition is open in the Czech Centre Seoul until the end of February.

The part „1918“ focusing on the establishment of Czechoslovakia and the most significant politicians, who contributed to the establishment of a new state, offers a brief and approachable overview of the Czechoslovakian society, culture, trade, industry and diplomatic relationships  during the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938).

The second part „1968“ deals with the Prague Spring and the following Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. The goal of the exhibition is to provide a general overview of the Czechoslovakia at that time by setting it in an international and historical context. Besides the development preceding and following the Prague Spring and the Warsaw Pact invasion, the exhibition engages in Czechoslovakian culture, art and society in 1960s.
